On February 6, 2013, a concerned citizen contacted the Annapolis Police Department about a 2-year-old child, Kassidey Booth, whom the citizen had not seen in several days.

The investigation by police detectives provided evidence that Kassidey’s mother, Chelsea Booth, killed the toddler earlier this week and disposed of the body, police say. Sources say they believe the toddler was smothered to death.

Police believe the 2-year-old's body was throw into a trash bin. The toddler's body was discovered in Jessup.

Chelsea Booth has been charged with first and second degree murder and first degree child abuse resulting in death. She is being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

A security guard is posted at the entrance to the Bay Ridge gardens apartments. People are being asked their business there before being allowed in. Neighbors are upset by what happened and just don't want to talk to strangers about it.

“The only thing I can tell you is we're deeply saddened about the incident,” says Mayra Orellanna.

Will Haynes works in booth's apartment complex and knew both mother and child.

“When you hear anything like that, with a child, it definitely affects you really,” he says. “It’s very serious that this happened to a young child. Two lives are lost. That's sad."

Officers are still investigating the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Pyles at 410-268-9000.
