Frederick Police are looking for a second car believed to be involved in the Colonial Jewelers armed robbery in early February.

The car was seen speeding off immediately after three men robbed the store on the corner of Market and Patrick streets on February 5. The car appears to be a newer model Infiniti or Nissan Altima.

Customers were caught in the middle when the suspects burst into the store, one brandishing a gun, and stole jewelry after spraying the store with pepper spray. About 10 employees and customers inside the store at the time needed medical attention afterward.

"When we came out of our office on the third floor we entered the stairwell, it was just overwhelming," says Theresa Lock.

Witness Kevin Parrotte, Sr. said, "I saw fire guys coming out of there coughing their brains out."

An Arlington jewelry store had fallen victim the day before to what appeared to be well organized thieves. Several men walked into the Zales at The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City and got away with $130,000 worth of jewelry.

Frederick and Arlington police are working together to see if the robberies are connected. There are obvious similarities. In each case, the thieves used a hammer or mallet to smash their way to the goods. Also, one suspect in the Pentagon City case appears to be wearing neon green gloves - just like a suspect in the Frederick robbery.
