Cyclist hit by car in Southwest Washington

A cyclist is in critical condition after being struck Monday morning while biking in Southwest Washington.
MPD officials say that the cyclist was hit by a car just before 6:20 a.m. near the intersection of 6th Street and Maryland Avenue SW. The victim's injuries were described by authorities as serious and life-threatening.
The striking vehicle remained on the scene after the crash.
