D.C. National Guard unit to deploy to Guantanamo Bay Detention Center in Cuba
February 10, 2013 - 10:05 pm
The 372nd Military Police Battalion of the D.C. National Guard has its marching orders.
They deploy Tuesday for Fort Bliss, Texas before ending up at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center in Cuba.
The 60-member unit has trained for this assignment for more than a year.
For most, this is a second or third deployment. And 10 months is a long time to be away from home and family.
Some of these soldiers are police officers in D.C., Prince George's County, and the Metro Transit Police.
ABC7's Roz Plater has the story and talks with soldiers and their family members.
