Dalai Lama to speak at University of Maryland May 7
The University of Maryland will welcome the Dalai Lama to the College Park campus for a lecture this May, the school announced Thursday.
In a letter sent to the campus community, Maryland President Wallace Loh says that the Dalai Lama will deliver the Anwar Sadat Lecture for peace on May 7 at the Comcast Center.
"This is a rare opportunity and promises to be a landmark event for the entire campus," Loh said in the letter.
The Dalai Lama will join a list of luminaries who have been brought to campus to deliver the Sadat Lecture, including Nelson Mandela, Henry Kissinger, Jimmy Carter and others.
Tickets for the speech will be free and will become available on March 8. You can reserve tickets at www.umd.edu/lecture.
