DeShawn Jones, Wilde Lake High student, charged with rape

A Howard County high school student has been charged as an adult in the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl, Howard County Police officials say.

Police say 17-year-old DeShawn Rasheed Jones raped a 14-year-old female victim on the campus of Wilde Lake High School in Columbia on Monday.

The girl alleges that Jones asked her to cut class with him. She said as they walked around inside the school, he pulled her into an empty room and raped her. The girl says Jones blocked the door so she couldn't leave.

Jones was arrested at school Tuesday and charged with second-degree rape. Bond has not been set.
