John Jeffries taken into custody in Frederickburg

A 60-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of an elderly Fauquier County couple was taken into custody in Fredericksburg Wednesday.
John Jeffries was taken into custody at about 4 p.m. Wednesday at an acquaintances’ residence in the 2000 block of Lafayette Boulevard.
Jeffries is currently behind bars at the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office. He was not injured during the arrest but was taken from the residence to a local hospital.
Jeffries was named a person of interest in the murder of Nelson and Ethel Slack, who were found dead at 7282 Bunker Hill Road on Feb. 24.
Authorities have been searching for Jeffries since Sunday.
