Kaytee Products bird treats recalled due to salmonella fears
February 21, 2013 - 10:08 am
Several varieties of Kaytee-brand bird treats are being recalled by Giant food stores due to fears over salmonella, the company says.
The recall includes 7-ounce packages of Kaytee Parakeet Honey Treat Value Packs and 3.5-ounce packages of Kaytee Parakeet Honey Sticks.
Parsley flake ingredients in these products were possibly contaminated by salmonella. No human illnesses have yet been reported, but company officials say that the product could possibly be harmful to birds if eaten or people if handled.
Customers who purchased the following products can return them to any Giant or Martin's food store for a full refund:
| Product | UPC Code | Best Before |
| Kaytee Parakeet Honey Treat Value Pack | 7185955027 | 12/4/2013 - 8/2/2014 |
| Kaytee Parakeet Honey Stick | 7185900431 | 12/6/2013 - 5/29/2014 |
