Marie Johnson likely charged with killing Elmer Roehrs
A 45-year-old woman will likely be charged in connection with the death of an elderly Alexandria man who was found slain in his Del Ray home earlier this week.
Alexandria police say that Marie Johnson, 45, will likely be charged in connection with the death of 94-year-old Elmer Roehrs, who was found killed inside his home Wednesday.
Roehrs was found dead in his home shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 2700 block of Holly Street. Johnson was arrested shortly thereafter and charged with burglary in connection to a theft at the victim's home last November.
In court Friday, prosecutors told a judge Johnson will likely be charged with killing Roehrs, the prosecutor told ABC7 after the hearing.
Roehrs, who lived with his family, was found dead by a relative Wednesday night.
The Washington Post reports that Johnson has rented an apartment from Roehrs.
