Md. trooper catches Arundel Mills robbery suspect after chase, crash
HANOVER, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County Police say a man was arrested after a chase from Hanover into Baltimore.
Police say about 3 p.m. Friday, a man armed with a knife confronted a woman getting into her car at Arundel Mills Mall. Officers say the man demanded the woman's purse, and during a struggle with the robber, the woman was cut on her hand.
Authorities say the robber fled in a car and a trooper with Maryland State Police spotted the vehicle on Maryland 295. The vehicle and the trooper drove into Baltimore, where the suspect's vehicle hit a building.
The trooper and Baltimore police arrested the driver and turned him over to Anne Arundel County authorities.
Officers say 49-year-old Broderick Bennett of Windsor Mill will be charged with robbery and other offenses.
