WASHINGTON (AP) - Former District of Columbia schools chancellor Michelle Rhee says she thinks she did the right thing when she fired teachers and principals. However, Rhee says she should have done it differently.

Rhee made the comments Sunday on ABC's "This Week." She was asked if she had any second thoughts about her style, which included allowing a camera crew to follow her as a principal was fired. Rhee says she absolutely did the right things, but needed to focus more on how she communicated what was being done. And how they were done, adding that she probably shouldn't have fired a principal on national television.

Rhee says closing failing schools, removing ineffective people, and cutting bureaucracy were commonsense solutions. And if that makes her a radical, then so be it.
