Montgomery County employees could get first pay raise in years

Montgomery County government employees may see their first pay raise in four years after the county and its union reached a tentative contract agreement, the Washington Post reports.

The two-year deal with Montgomery County's 5,000-member union calls for gradual pay increases for cost-of-living and longevity totaling about 13 percent, the Post's Bill Turque reports.

However, the move isn't without a bit of controversy; the county is still facing the potential for a $134 million budget gap for the next fiscal year.
