Myersville fire: Community pledges $63,000 to family
February 7, 2013 - 10:55 am
MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Community members have pledged more than $63,000 to a family that lost two daughters in a Frederick County fire.
The January 31 house fire near Myersville claimed the lives of 6-year-old Sophie Paige Lillard and 3-year-old Madigan Grace Lillard.
The Frederick News-Post says more than half of the money was raised by Fit for Life Boot Camp, an organization in which the girls' mother, Christine Lillard, was involved.
The Lillard family issued a statement saying it was grateful for the support.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, which gutted the house and caused an estimate $200,000 in damage.
