Nikita Levy, former Johns Hopkins gynecologist, found dead
TOWSON, Md. (AP) - A former Johns Hopkins Hospital gynecologist suspected of secretly recording patients has been found dead at his Towson home.
Police say 54-year-old Dr. Nikita Levy is believed to have committed suicide.
Johns Hopkins officials said in a statement that they began investigating Levy earlier this month after an employee reported that he had been using personal equipment to take pictures and videos of his patients. Levy was suspended and police were notified. Hospital officials say Levy acknowledged his conduct and was fired on Feb. 8.
Baltimore police have assigned sex offense detectives to the case.
Johns Hopkins says it has set up a call center for Levy's patients, and the hospital is conducting its own investigation. A statement from the hospital says "any invasion of patient privacy is intolerable."
