Santos Javier Guevara-Oliva accused in California sex crime
A man residing in Hyattsville, Md. was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a minor in California.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Removal Operations (ERO) officers arrested Santos Javier Guevara-Oliva, an El Salvadoran national, Monday in connection with the Santa Barbara case.
“Removing known criminal aliens that sexually exploit children from our streets is an ICE priority in maintaining the safety and quality of life that the citizens of Maryland expect,” said Calvin McCormick, field office director for ERO in Baltimore.
The 33-year-old is charged with aggravated sexual assault on a child under 14 and forcible rape. If convicted, Guevara-Oliva faces a life sentence.
