Suspect tries to coax girl into van in SE D.C.

A search is underway for a man who police believe tried to coax a small girl into his van near the corner of Congress Place and Alabama Avenue in Southeast D.C.
The mother of the 5-year-old girl, Michele Elvis, said she was walking with her daughter when her daughter sped ahead of her.
A van that she says was shadowing her daughter then pulled up and a suspect opened the vehicle’s door and tried to grab Elvis’ daughter.
Elvis sprinted toward her daughter grabbed her and the ran back to her house. Then she called police.
D.C. police say they have identified a suspect.
