Joyce Amatucci, a school teacher, suggests that school should be delayed.

Area hardware stores are stocked with everything you need to clear off snow or ice. But even though the forecast calls for that wintry mix, those items weren't exactly flying off the shelves.

With temperatures going up and down this week with precipitation in the forecast, this could be a very interesting week for the D.C. area.

According to ABC7 chief meteorologist Doug Hill, temperatures will be close to freezing Tuesday morning, so rain and snow are a possibility. The best chances for frozen or freezing precipitation will be north and west of Washington.

As the morning progresses, any icy issues should quickly resolve, as gusty, warmer winds develop ahead of the next cold front. Scattered rain showers will be possible during the day as temperatures near 50 degrees.
