Woman ambushed, assaulted from Foggy Bottom street corner
MPD investigators are looking into a claim that a woman was ambushed and assaulted in Foggy Bottom last Thursday night.
Sources say that the victim was driving home from the Trader Joe's at about 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 when she pulled over near the corner of 24th and M streets NW to see if she had forgotten a bag of groceries.
At that point, she told police that a man ambushed her while her back was turned.
During the attack, the woman told police that the man put his hand over her face, so she bit his hand. After that, the attacker allegedly grabbed her by the hair and tried to slam her head into the trunk. She then kneed the man, and when he fell backwards, she was able to run away.
An investigation into the attack is ongoing.
