'Gift Cards for Guns' to collect guns in Prince George's County
March 23, 2013 - 10:16 am
The Prince George’s County Police Department is taking part in the first “Gift Cards for Guns” event of 2013 Saturday. In an effort to curb gun violence in the county, police will accept guns from citizens who voluntarily surrender them. In return, citizens will receive a gift card of up to $125.
The event will take place at Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire at 10002 Riggs Road in Adelphi from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants should place the unloaded guns in the trunk of their cars.
Police will also accept unwanted ammunition.
About 450 guns were surrendered at similar events last year.
