D.C. police say 35-year-old Anouar Trabelsi of Alexandria, Va., was arrested Wednesday by members of a fugitive task force. However, on Thursday, the U.S. Attorneys office stated it is not prosecuting Trabelsi.

"The U.S. Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and is not moving forward with charges at this time," The U.S. Attorneys office stated Thursday. "The investigation is continuing."

The alleged assault occurred in December in the driveway of the 20-year-old victim's northwest Washington home.

The victim called the sedan service after becoming intoxicated at a U Street bar.

After she paid her fare and exited the cab, court documents say the driver came up behind her and grabbed her arms. She hit her head on the concrete driveway, where the driver allegedly held her down, kissed her and raped her.

Police say the suspect's name and photograph were on the ride receipt.

Uber released this statement regarding the incident:

"Immediately upon being told that a driver for Capitol Limo, a limo company utilizing Uber technology, was suspected of committing a crime, we deactivated the partner account. He has not done a single ride through Uber since then."

Uber is a popular sedan service that allows people to use a smart phone app to arrange rides. The general manager of Uber's Washington operation says in a statement to The Washington Post that Trabelsi has not worked for the company since he was accused of sexual assault.

Trabelsi's wife tells The Post that her husband is innocent and "did nothing wrong."
