Arlington Ridge Road shooting leaves man injured, suspect loose
A search is ongoing for a suspect who shot a man during a robbery in Arlington Wednesday night, officials say.
The shooting happened on South Arlington Ridge Road near South Lang Street at about 8:30 p.m., Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. Sternbeck says that a young Hispanic man was shot in the leg during a robbery attempt.
He was found laying on the sidewalk near Gunston Middle School when police arrived. He told police that a man in a black hooded sweatshirt demanded money from him, then shot him.
Shootings in this area of Arlington are rare. According to arlnow.com, the last one happened late last May, when a man was shot outside a Crystal City hotel.
