Three men have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident that injured a D.C. officer.

Kevin Burno, 24, faces a felony assault charge while Antonio Parks, 22, and Darrin Twisdale, 25, were both charged with obstruction of justice and possession of an open container of alcohol. All three men are from Southeast Washington.

Police say the officer was on his motor scooter near 46th and A streets SE when he was struck just after 6:30 p.m.Tuesday. The suspects fled the scene, leaving their white Lexus behind.

When the call was dispatched, D.C. had no available EMS units to send.

An ambulance from Prince George's County was dispatched, arriving to the scene at 6:52 p.m. Nearly an hour passed between the time the officer was struck and his arrival time at MedStar Washington Hospital.

The officer suffered multiple injuries and is currently in stable condition.
Officials say he has been with the department since 2005.
