Asteroid 2013ET to make close pass by Earth

This weekend, stargazers can catch a glimpse of an asteroid the size of a city block thanks to two webcasts.

The asteroid will miss Earth by 600,000 miles when it zips by at around 26,000 mph Saturday, SPACE.com says. Discovered on March 3, the asteroid was named 2013 ET by the Catalina Sky Survey.

Last month, an asteroid caused a fireball to detonate over Russia, injuring thousands.

The first webcast will air Friday at 2 p.m. on Space.com. The online Slooh Space Telescope will offer the second webcast Saturday, beginning at 3:15 p.m.
