Police say a man fatally shot his brother-in-law and then turned the gun on himself Tuesday afternoon in Prince Frederick, Md.

Raymond Willard, 45, shot and killed Carl Nerlem, 42, around 1:30 p.m., police say. An argument escalated to the fatal shooting outside their Hollow Point Road home.

Officers nearby heard three gunshots and found their bodies in the yard. One other person was home at the time.

The investigation briefly closed Route 231 between Adelina and Skipjack roads.

Police were called to the home  two days ago for a verbal argument between Nerlem and Willard, but no charges were pressed.
