Census Bureau Report: D.C. growth slows
March 14, 2013 - 07:29 am
New Census Bureau figures show that booming growth in the Washington region slowed last year.
In the 12-month period ending July 1, the region’s population rose 89,000 over the year, bringing the total to more than 5.8 million. But the growth rate of 1.5 percent was down from 1.9 percent in the previous 12-month period.
According to the report, D.C. is still attracting new residents, just not as many as it did during the recession when federal spending helped keep the Washington area’s economy afloat.
