Erin Thorne arrested for sexual relationship with student, police say
A Broadneck High School teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor and former student.
Erin Nicole Thorne, 28, was placed on administrative leave in November once the school system started investigating the allegations of the possible relationship between a student and teacher.
Police say the student graduated from the high school in the spring of 2011, but formed a friendship with Thorne his senior year. During the fall semester, Thorne started sending the student, who was under 18, sexually explicit text messages. From there, the two started talking regularly on the phone.
Once the student turned 18, police say, he and Thorne engaged in sexual activity.
Thorne turned herself in on March 12 and posted bond hours later. She faces one count each of display obscene matter to a minor and child porn solicit subject.
If convicted on both charges, Thorne could spend 11 years behind bars.
