Fitzgerald Auto Malls inspects child seats for free
A sobering statistic for parents of young children.
About seven in 10 child safety seats are not installed properly - and that puts children at great risk.
Fitzgerald Auto Malls is trying to change that.
Last year, the Rockville-based company inspected more than 42,000 child safety seats.
But the company's founder Jack Fitzgerald says not as many minorities take advantage of the free inspections. And he wants to get the word out that Fitzgerald is here to help.
“We do this every month, once a month, every month, it's open to everyone, it's free and their children need to have these seats inspected,” he says.
Fitzgerald says he's hoping to reach all minority groups, and has workers on staff who speak 45 different languages.
This is the fourteenth year Fitzgerald has offered these child safety seat inspections.
