Maryland State Police troopers injured in DUI crash
Two Maryland State Police officers were injured early Friday morning when their cruiser was hit by an alleged drunk driver, officials say.
The crash happened on Interstate 95 near Sandy Spring Road just after midnight Friday, Maryland State Police officials say. At that time, two troopers, 42-year-old Manuel Moreno and 34-year-old John Cabrera, were investigating a crash on the highway. The officers had set out flares and returned to their car to file reports.
Shortly after that, a car driven by Arcenia Macklin, a 48-year-old Laurel resident, went through the flares and rear-ended the State Police cruiser.
Moreno and Cabrera were both taken to Prince George's Hospital Center, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Macklin was charged with driving under the influence.
