Metro launches pilot program for student riders
Metro, Giant Food and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) are launching a pilot program to make it easier for District students to purchase passes that get them to and from school.
According to a release from WMATA, the program is designed to give students more options for purchasing 10-trip bus passes in areas closer to home or school. The pilot program will run from March 4 through July 1.
The participating Giant stores are:
* Giant Food - 1050 Brentwood Road NE
* Giant Food - 1345 Park Road NW
* Giant Food - 4303 Connecticut Avenue NW
* Giant Food - 1535 Alabama Avenue SE
Students must have at least one remaining bus trip on their D.C. One Card to purchase a new bus pass.
Students with a D.C. One Card receive reduced fares on Metrorail, bus and Circulator service when traveling to and from school.
