Michael Levaughn Williams accused of inappropriately touching Metro passenger
Updated: March 15, 2013 - 11:30 pm
A 19-year-old man accused of inappropriately grabbing a female Metro passenger in two separate incidents was charged Friday.
Metro Transit Police charged Michael Levaughn Williams with several offenses, including misdemeanor sex abuse. He was arrested Thursday.
Police say Williams grabbed a woman from behind on Jan. 29 at the New Carrollton/Largo Town Center platform. She jumped on a stopped train and got away, police say.
A few days later. On Feb. 2, the same woman accused Williams of inappropriately touching her and pinning her against a wall inside.
Between the two incidents, Metro Police stopped Williams after complaints he was harassing female riders. They took his information and snapped a photo of him.
After the second assault, investigators compared notes, and put his picture in a photo array. The victim identified him.
On its website, Metro now has a way for victims to give authorities detailed information about an attack, even advising that victims can provide a photo, but only if it’s safe. (www.wmata.com/harassment)
