A D.C. police sergeant could be facing disciplinary action after his idling police cruiser was stolen Monday afternoon.
Police say the MPD cruiser was taken from Fort Davis Place in Southeast D.C. while the sergeant was responding to a 911 hang up call. The joyrider got away after crashing the car into a small stone wall in front of a home.
The sergeant, who has been on the force for over 10 years, was assigned to the auto theft unit at some point.
Police are talking to witnesses to identify a suspect.
