Paul Danzo killed in shooting near Balletto nightclub

A shooting outside a downtown Washington night club early Thursday morning has left a man dead, police say.
D.C. Police said the victim, an adult male, was shot in the head on the 1700 block of L Street. The shooting allegedly happened after a fight at the Balletto night club spilled outside after it closed just after 2 a.m.
Officials say the victim then made his way over to his car, a silver BMW, where he was shot. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Paul Aime Tanoh Danzo of Laurel.
People who were nearby told ABC7 that they heard at least four or five shots before they say the victim stumbled away.
Witnesses say this all started with a large fight on the sidewalk, just feet from the club.
Joe, a manager at Balletto, says there were no problems inside.
Witnesses say the pushing and shoving started out here in front of the clubs door. Among the guests were Washington Redskins’ Evan Royster but he left before the shooting.
The victim's car was towed from the scene as evidence; meanwhile, a lookout has been placed for a black BMW with chrome wheels which may be driven by the suspect.
Last night’s event at Balletto was a draw with college and NFL players in attendance. A local radio station tweeted ahead of it: “WE DON'T STOP! Redskin EVAN ROYSTER, NY Giant ADRIAN TRACY & #TheLEAGUE Host VIP Birthday For DONTE DAVIS.”
David Hope owns a business nearby.
“You know it can happen anyplace, will be known for crime or anything,” Hope says.
As for the celebrity guest list, Redskins player Evan Royster later tweeted: "Heard I was getting bashed on the radio for being out last night … showed up for an hour so a friend could get a free table ... left hours before shooting.”
