NW DC double shooting: Shooting injures two in same block as drive-by last week
Updated: March 19, 2013 - 08:49 am
MPD officials say that robbery was the likely motive behind a shooting Tuesday morning that left two people injured near Washington's Sursum Corda neighborhood.
Officials say that a man and a woman were shot along the 100 block of Pierce Street NW in Washington. The man was shot in the hand and chest and the woman was shot in the hand.
Police say that the shooting happened inside an apartment building and that the two suspects in the shooting know the male victim and were attempting to rob him.
Nothing was taken. Both victims are expected to survive.
This is the second shooting in a week in this area. Last Monday, more than a dozen people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside the Tyler House apartments.
Police do not believe these shootings are connected to the drive-by shooting
Craig Wilson, a 19-year-old D.C. man, turned himself in several days later in connection with that shooting. Another person of interest is still on the loose.
Charges at the time for the suspects in Tuesday morning's shooting are assault with a deadly weapon. Two suspects are being sought.
