Demetrice Littles accused of trying to steal officer's car
Updated: March 16, 2013 - 02:34 pm
A Northeast teen is accused of trying to steal an off-duty Prince George's County officer's car with his daughter inside Friday.
Police say Demetrice Littles,19, got into the officer's Camry in his driveway on Vienne Drive in Clinton around 8:20 a.m. The officer's 9-year-old daughter was inside the car at the time.
Prince George's County police say the officer ordered Littles to get out of the car. Before he careened across the yard and toward the officer, the girl was able to jump out.
Police spokeswoman Julie Parker explained, "The suspect drove at the officer. He feared for his life and discharged the weapon."
At least one bullet pierced the driver's side passenger window. Littles crashed into a parked SUV and got away.
He was arrested after he sought treatment for a gunshot wound at an area hospital Saturday.
Littles faces first-degree assault, kidnapping, abduction, auto theft and other charges. He's being held on $30,000 bond.
