Police chase ends with D.C. officer injured, teen shot, three arrested
When police chased a carjacked red Dodge Challenger Saturday night, a D.C. officer on foot was rammed by the driver, another officer shot one of the occupants of the vehicle, and three teens were arrested.
Police say the car had been carjacked about 11 a.m. in the 500 block of 16th Street NE. At about 7 p.m., the car was spotted and officers pursued it.
When the car was stopped in traffic at 295 and Benning Road NE, officers were approaching it on foot when the car hit one of the officers and another officer opened fire.
The car drove off but stopped less than a mile away and the teenagers - one female and two males - bailed out. They were taken into custody. One of the teens had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The injured officer and the suspect who was shot were taken to area hospitals where they were treated and released.
