Sami Ullah's family, friends remember him as 'humble' and 'loving'
Services were held Monday for the man killed when his speeding car crashed early Sunday morning in Rosslyn.
Police say 21-year-old Sami Ullah was driving 90 mph over the Key Bridge when he lost control. However, his friends say that moment doesn’t reflect his life. They describe Ullah as loving and humble.
“When he talked to you he’s so pleasant, so nice, so soft,” says Quamer Ghumman, his uncle.
Outside Sami’s parents’ home in Leesburg, loved ones are now preparing for a funeral after what happened early Sunday morning.
“It came so quickly… it’s a shock,” says Ghumman.
Police say Sami was driving his BMW M5 90 mph across the Key Bridge at 5 a.m. when he lost control and hit a curb just as he was crossing into Arlington from Georgetown. The car rolled five times before landing on its roof. Two passengers in the car were seriously injured.
“I just wish his ‘Snow White’ as he always called it didn’t take his life away," says Arsalan Galsi.
Hours before the crash Saturday night, Sami had stopped by his cousin Muhammad Soleman's birthday party.
“I still feel like I’m going to open my eyes and he’s going to be in front of me because I have that face in front of me," says Soleman.
Sami graduated from Heritage High in Leesburg in 2008 and was set to graduate from Virginia Tech in just a few weeks. He had plans to get a Master’s Degree in business. It’s a future people closest to Sami can’t believe is gone.
Arlington police are still looking into the exact cause of the crash. They are also awaiting results from toxicology reports and waiting to speak with the two other passengers in the car, both of whom remain in the hospital at George Washington University.
