Sequestration 2013: Federal worker pay freeze likely to be extended

Decrease Increase Text size

A pay freeze for federal workers that has been in effect for the past two years is likely to be extended through the end of the year, CNN Money reports.

The freeze was set to expire at the end of March, and workers were hoping for an increase of 0.5 percent.

CNN Money says that Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., argues that freeze remains necessary to avert a government shutdown.
