Waldorf propane truck crash causes spill, evacuations
March 7, 2013 - 12:04 pm
A propane truck overturned in Waldorf Wednesday morning, causing voluntary evacuations from the area while crews cleaned up a spill.
Charles County Sheriff's Office officials say the truck overturned just after 10 a.m. on Bensville Road near Carrie Court. The crash caused some of the tanker's load to spill, but no one was injured.
Bensville Road remains closed between Route 228 and Zoll Lane. Residents of several streets, including Valley Drive, Sedgeland Court, Carrie Court, Shannon Drive, Poplar Court and Paperbirth Court, were evacuated.
The cleanup is ongoing and crews expect to be on the cleanup job for several hours.
