The group announced Friday that the festival will hold screenings and events in Smithsonian theaters and at the Newseum, as well as at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Md. The name of the festival also is changing from Silverdocs to AFI Docs.

This year's festival is scheduled to run June 19-23. It's the 11th year of the AFI festival.

Organizers say this year's festival will include forums for conversation between filmmakers, policy makers and audiences on prominent issues of the day.

Filmmakers Ken Burns, Davis Guggenheim, Barbara Kopple, Spike Lee and others are serving on an advisory board to plan the expanded AFI Docs festival.
