Dan DiFonzo of Montgomery County Road Runners Club reacts to explosions
Hundreds of runners from the D.C. area were participating in Monday's Boston Marathon. That includes dozens from the Montgomery County Road Runners Club.
Dan DiFonzo of Rockville is with the running group and was in Boston at the time of the explosions.
"It's the last thing you expect. This is the Super Bowl of everything we do having to do with running," said DiFonzo.
"This is the World Series; the Masters of our event. People spend their entire lives trying to qualify for this event. They spend the entire year training once they qualify for it. And again it makes it all unimportant in the grand scheme of things."
The Montgomery County Road Runners club says most of its runners have reported in and were unharmed by the explosions.
