Defense department experiencing research cuts

Not only are the sequestration budget cuts hampering the efforts of federal agencies to keep staffing levels adequate, it's also already hurting research and development efforts across the government.

According to Federal News Radio, the "indiscriminate" budget cuts has led to a 8 percent reduction in R&D funding within the Department of Defense so far this year.

That has led to cutbacks at government labs, in contracts and educational efforts.
