Eleanor Holmes Norton criticizes 'Redskins' name
D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton came out against the Washington Redskins name on NewsTalk Monday morning.
"I don’t see how I can spend all my time as a black woman and then use a derogatory term when it comes to another ethnic group,” she said.
Redskins general manager Bruce Allen saidin Feruary that the team isn't considering a new nickname, adding that it's "ludicrous" to suggest that the franchise is trying to upset Native Americans.
"There's nothing that we feel is offensive," Allen said. "And we're proud of our history."
