Erin Thorne, former Broadneck High teacher, has charge dropped
A child porn charge has been dropped against a former Broadneck High School teacher accused of having an improper relationship with a student, The Capital Gazette reports.
Erin Thorne, 28, still faces one charge of displaying obscene material to a minor. If convicted, she faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Police say Thorne, a former English teacher and assistant track coach, texted sexually explicit photos to a 17-year-old male student during the 2010-2011 school year. Thorne also engaged in a sexual relationship with the student after he turned 18.
The student graduated from Broadneck High in 2011.
Thorne was placed on administrative leave in November once the school system started investigating the allegations of the possible relationship. She turned herself in on March 12 and resigned from her teaching position April 8.
