Ex-offenders could work at Maryland casinos
Ex-offenders will be allowed to work at state casinos like Maryland Live! if Governor Martin O'Malley signs legislation the Senate passed Wednesday, The Capital Gazette reports.
The Senate passed the bill 47-0. The House passed the bill last month by a 94-40 vote.
The legislation would stop disqualifying job applicants who have committed crimes involving moral turpitude or gambling. The bill would only disqualify those who have been convicted, paroled or put on probation for such crimes in the past seven years.
Delaware has a 10-year ban for similar criminals while West Virginia has a total ban.
