Police arrested Jason Jamar Howard, 30, and charged him with sexually abusing a minor, among other charges. Police say he turned himself in to police on Thursday.

Howard admitted to police during an interview that he fondled the student between 10 and 15 times during two school years, according to charging documents.

Last week a teacher saw what appeared to be the blatant sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl inside the school. The teacher maintains Howard, who worked as an aid, sat down next to the girl while she ate her lunch and casually slid his hands under the child's clothing and molested her.

“I was very concerned about the teacher,” says parent Sam Akkad. “I would like to know what happened from what the letter said do something to a little child.”

On Friday, the school sent a letter to parents saying that an unnamed staffer was removed from the school after allegations of inappropriate contact between the staffer and a student surfaced.

“Once the school district was made aware of the allegations, the staff member was immediately removed from the school,” principal Jacqueline Hall wrote in a letter dated April 19. “They are currently on administrative leave pending criminal and administrative investigations.”
