Jose Reyes Mejia-Varela sentenced to life

The man who pleaded guilty in the murder of a Frederick Burger King employee was sentenced to life Thursday, The Frederick News Post reports.

Prosecutors say Mejia-Varela, a former employee, knew that an access hatch on the roof would be unlocked. He jumped from a garbage bin onto the roof and slid through the hatch and into the manager's office.

Over $2,300 was missing from the restaurant safe.
