D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray scoffed at Muriel Bowser’s challenge that she can bring more focus and energy to the city if she’s elected mayor. Gray made the comment during a live interview Thursday on NewsChannel 8’s NewsTalk with Bruce DePuyt.

“I don’t know what she’s talking about. I think it’s ridiculous,” said Gray. “Who has more energy than me? Bruce, I work 16 hours every day so if she wants to talk about energy I’d be happy to talk about that.”

Last month, Bowser formally announced her intention to run for the next mayor of D.C. in 2014.

During Thursday’s interview, anchor Bruce DePuyt asked Gray if he plans to run for reelection. Gray said he enjoys the job and the momentum he’s building, but has made no decision about running.

Councilmembers Tommy Wells and Jack Evans are also expected to run for the spot.
