Metro weekend work to affect three lines

Major track work is expected on the Red Line this weekend, but other projects will be underway on the Blue, Orange and Green lines. It starts at 10 p.m. Friday and continues through the rail system’s midnight closing Sunday.

Red Line:

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between NoMa-Gallaudet and Takoma stations.

The Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland stations will be closed. 

The Fort Totten station will only be open on the Green and Yellow Line level.

During the daytime, trains will operate every 10 minutes between Glenmont and Takoma and Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet. They’ll operate at regular weekend intervals other times.

Blue/Orange lines:

Trains will single track between McPherson Square and Smithsonian stations.

Trains will operate about every 20 minutes in each direction through the weekend.

Metro will open two hours early on Sunday for the Nike Women Half Marathon.

Green Line:

Trains will single track between Greenbelt and College Park and between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue.
