Military families angered by lower pay raise
Families of military members and support organizations are crying foul over President Barack Obama's proposal to raise military pay by 1 percent in 2014, saying that the raise would be the lowest pay raise in 50 years, Military Times reports.
A Pentagon spokesperson says that the smaller-than-usual increase is due to the Defense Department's need to fund training and support while operating under a sequestration-trimmed budget.
However, advocates tell Military Times that the small raise sends the "wrong message" to service members.
