Just days after the premiere of the “42” movie that pays tribute to the baseball great, Major League Baseball is celebrating “Jackie Robinson Day” on Monday.

Sixty-six years ago, Robinson slipped on the number 42 jersey for the Brooklyn Dodgers and broke baseball’s color barrier.

Robinson endured racial discrimination and harassment from everywhere—fans, his teammates and opposing players. He was taunted on the field, and had objects thrown at him.

Monday, the league honors Robinson, with all players wearing his number 42.
